      Description

      Who it's aimed at?

      This course has been designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out or supervise street works safely and compliantly under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA). Successful completion leads to registration on the Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) and are issued a Street Works card valid for five years.

      Ideal for:

      • Experienced Operatives and Supervisors
      • Operatives involved in undertaking NRSWA operations
      • Supervisors responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance NRSWA operations

      Entry Requirements

      • Industry experience in undertaking New Roads & Street works (NRSWA) operations.
      • Candidates must be physically able to undertake practical tasks (Operatives)

      O3 – Reinstatement & Compaction of Backfill Materials S4 – Monitoring Reinstatement of Sub‑base & Road base
      O5 – Reinstatement of Cold‑lay Bituminous Materials S5 – Monitoring Reinstatement of Bituminous Materials
      O8 – Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces & Concrete Footways S7 – Monitoring Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces & Concrete Footways

       

      Additional Unit available:  O6 – Reinstatement of Hot‑lay Bituminous Materials

      Assessments

      Knowledge Assessment:

      On-line test for each unit covering learning points from the associated unit.

      Practical Assessment:

      • Risk Assessment of works associated with NRSWA works
      • Use of cable avoidance tools (CAT & Genny)
      • Setting out a compliant signing, lighting, and guarding layout.
      • Carry out safe excavation on the highway
      • Carry out correct reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
      • Carry out correct reinstatement of sub-base & road base in non-bituminous materials
      • Carry out correct reinstatement in Cold Lay Bituminous Materials
      • Carry out correct reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footway
      • Demonstrating safe working practices and correct equipment use.

      Supervisors are assessed on monitoring operatives undertaking above tasks.

      Course Duration

      This is a 5 day course and delivered by our training partner, Your Utility Training and Assessment.

      What to bring on the day

      • You will require to bring photographic ID to confirm your identity (Passport or driving licence).
      • If you are attending a course that involves practical aspects, you will require to bring your full PPE for workshop activities.
      • Evidence of previous / current industry relevant qualifications may also be required (NRSWA Card, qualification certificates).

      Full payment required upfront before registration of the qualification and/or training course.

      Please note, for training courses in Central London or Ireland, there will be additional charges applicable. Examples may include: 

      • London- Congestion Charge- There is an £18 daily charge (if paid on the day or in advance) 
      • London- ULEZ charges for cars- £12.50 per day
      • London- Car parking- if there is no parking allowed on site
      • Ireland- Flight or ferry charge will be applicable
      Terms and Conditions
      • Applicable to courses not fully funded- Payment terms: payment is due prior to commencement of training.
      • Candidates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English
      • Photographic I.D. (Passport, Driving Licence) is required for all candidates.
      • Lucelly Consultancy or our Training Partner may have to cancel a course at very short notice due to circumstances beyond our control e.g. Instructor Illness, venue cancellation etc.
      • In the event that candidates do not attend and the minimum numbers are not achieved. A refund for the remaining places (see minimum numbers required in course description) will not be provided.
      • No refund will be payable should delegates fail to arrive, leave early, fail to complete the course or fail to achieve the criteria presented.
      • If candidates arrive more than 15 minutes late, they will not be permitted to attend the course and the original invoice value still applies. No refund will be made payable should candidates fail to arrive for any of the course, leave early, fail to complete the course or fail to achieve the criteria presented.
      • If the employer provides the venue, equipment and materials and these do not meet an acceptable standard, Lucelly Consultancy reserve the right to cancel with full payment expected.
      • The trainer delivering the training course has the right to dismiss any candidates should they disrupt the course or that they suspect that the candidates may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
